Built for a regulated job, inside the rules that govern it
A WOF checksheet is a regulatory record, not paperwork. Everything about WoFMate — from the PDF layout to the way records lock — is built against the requirements NZTA publishes for digital checksheets.
The NZTA framework, in plain terms
NZTA operates a Digital Checksheet Provider (DCP) framework for software that produces WOF and CoF checksheets. Approval has two parts: the provider is assessed and registered — including fit-and-proper checks and a security assessment — and then each checksheet product is separately tested and approved against NZTA's specifications before it can be used in production.
That bar is the point. Inspection records underpin road safety decisions, and the framework exists so that digital records meet at least the standard of the paper they replace.
Built to the current baseline
WoFMate's checksheet is built to the February 2026 WoF Check Sheet Specifications — the operative baseline for digital WOF checksheets — and the platform is designed around the obligations that come with the framework: completed checksheets lock automatically, rechecks stay chained to their original inspections, every record carries its audit trail, and auditors can be granted controlled, time-limited access to retrieve records directly.
The same thinking runs through the infrastructure: least-privilege access internally, encrypted storage and transit, and continuous audit logging across the platform.
Where WoFMate is in the NZTA approval process
WoFMate's electronic WoF check sheet is approved by NZTA for Warrant of Fitness inspections on light vehicles — cars, motorcycles and trailers. It is live and in production today.
This is a temporary approval of Version 1.13/2026, valid until 19 June 2027. NZTA is replacing its WoFOnline system with the new Vehicle Inspection and Certification (VIC) system, and our approval carries through that transition — we'll update this page plainly as the position develops.
We're also continuing through the wider process toward full Digital Checksheet Provider approval. We're not waiting to get started — we're welcoming workshops to join us on the journey now. You can read NZTA's approval letter for the full detail:

Can workshops use WoFMate now?
Yes. The platform is live and in production, and its WoF e-check sheet is NZTA-approved for light vehicles. You can start a free trial of the full workflow, analytics, and record management; use of digital checksheets for live WOF inspections is enabled in line with the inspecting authority that applies to your site.
How does WoFMate protect record integrity?
Completed checksheets lock automatically and cannot be edited; rechecks remain linked to their original inspections; access is least-privilege; and the platform keeps audit logs of activity on records.
